Telfs is located at the foot of the 2,662 m high Hohe Munde, a mountain that belongs to the Mieminger mountain chain. Bairbach, Birkenberg, Brand, Buchen, Hinterberg, Lehen, Moos, Mösern, Platten, Sagl, St. Veit and Wildmoos make up the municipality of
Telfs. Boasting some 15,000 inhabitants it is the third municipality of Tyrol in terms of size, after Innsbruck and Kufstein. For a long period of time Telfs was a centre of textile industry.
