General information
Strobl, at an altitude of 542 m, with its 3200 inhabitants lies on the east coast of Lake Wolfgang, and is also close to a skiing area. Nestled in the Lake Wolfgang valley, the area exudes tranquility and cosiness. Strobl is also an ideal starting point for excursions into the Salzkammergut region. You will be amazed by the inspiring Postalm, Zwölferhorn, Schafberg, and Katrinalm mountains.
How to get there
By car:
Motorway from the Vienna direction: take the Regau or Mondsee exit.
Motorway from the Salzburg direction: Thalgau exit - Fuschl, OR Mondsee exit - Wolfgangsee. There is a main road from Salzburg through Hof and Fuschl to Lake Wolfgangsee.
By train:
Salzburg main station - then take a 'Post' bus to Wolfgangsee, or take a train to Bad Ischl, from where you can also catch a 'Post' bus.
By plane:
Salzburg airport, then take a 'Post' bus to Wolfgangsee.
Summer resort
Experiecne summer as you've never experienced it before! A stroll along the splendid lake promenade will awake a fresh lust for life. Bright flowers, green meadows, and a deep blue lake, and amidst all this you'll find monuments and spring fountains. The summer can really be enjoyed here!
Strobl is an area in which tradition and people's culture have a big part to play, from lederhosen to the 'Prangerschützen', from the dirndl dresses to the homeland museum and the traditional music band. There is also an art museum in the 'Deutschvilla', where tried and tested methods are combined with new inspirations.
Nothing here is mundane - every new day brings variety. And Strobl is not just ideal for lovers of custom and tradition, young people will get their money's worth here too, for example by taking advantage of the wide range of water sporting opportunities.
And what would a lake be without a fantastic lake festival? There's that too in Strobl, every year in the last week of July. From party marquees and big-prize games to traditional fireworks. The lake spills over with excitement!
Winter resort
Due to the individuality of its slopes, the Zwölferhorn mountain offers every skier and snowboarder interesting descents. So families and experts alike can enjoy the Zwölferhorn's pistes. While the better skiers give the steep slope a go, the others will have no difficulty choosing an easy descent. The slope over the 'Elferstein' is particularly well-suited to children and inexperienced skiers. This slope is always excellently prepared, and as it finishes by the 'Sausteigalm' chair-lift station, weak skiers, beginners and snowboarders can re-tackle the piste without drag-lift problems!
Here, beginners will quickly learn how to control a snowboard, and for good boarders, the area is a paradise. Freeriders and jumpers will really get their money's worth.
