Lofer - purely indulgent ski holiday!
The family-friendly winter sports destination Lofer is located in the middle of the Salzburger Saalachtal, at an altitude of 639 m and in front of a breathtaking backdrop of the Lofer Steinberge. The tower of the Maria Krichental pilgrimage church can be seen from far away, and is among the most important pilgrimage churches in Salzburger Land. The Loferer Alm lift valley station is easy to reach from all village districts, and the "Kaserasi-Truck" even runs to the gondola from several hotels. The village with its angled lanes and lovely squares is ideal for all those seeking rest, relaxation and indulgence. The almost traffic free centre is perfectly suited for an enjoyable day off-piste. Anyone wanting to do a trip to Salzburg can use the easy connection with the post bus.
The easily manageable family ski area Almenwelt Lofer is accessible through the same-named lift pass and satisfies with its predominantly easy to moderate runs and wide, flat pastures. The ski area is specially designed for leisure skiers and beginners. Safety is the most important factor in your holiday? Then take your family to Lofer, where children can find in the 46 km of piste specially chosen lift systems, of which are designed with safety first in mind. This helps provide a stress-free ski holiday for the whole family.
Ski
The lift pass "Almenwelt Lofer" gives you access to the 57 km of piste and 14 lifts in the ski areas "Almenwelt Lofer" and "Unken Heutal".
The ski area "Almenwelt Lofer" has 46 km of piste and 10 lifts and is the ideal place for pleasure skiers. The ski area in the heart of the Salzburger Saalachtal stretches from 640 - 1,747 m and offers primarily easy to intermediate runs on its wide, flat mountain pastures.
The modern 8-persons chair lift especially makes families happy, as the child proof lift with automatically closable safety belts even brings the smallest skier safely to the peak. Fresh blue runs are very suitable for the first swings.
Thanks to numerous snow systems in the lower areas, the 9 km long valley run is secure nearly all season long and offers pure ski enjoyment! Those not wanting to pass on any challenges can head to the Hochwena-Alpin-Piste: the black run stretches over the steep northern slope on Grubhörndl. The clear family resort offers beginners and children some nice slopes to practice on the valley and mountain station. The great children's deal enables the possibility to a wonderful ski holiday for the whole family!
The ski area "Unken-Heutal" with its 11 km of piste and 4 lifts is especially suitable for begginers and little skiers. The ski school in Unken not only offers snowboard-, freestyle-, ski- and children's ski lessons, but also snow-shoe hikes. The family-friendly ski area is both attractive and diverse.
If you are looking for even more fun on skis the "3 Länder Freizeit-Arena" is just the right place for you. Young and old can look forward to endless skiing fun on approx. 171 km of skis and 61 lifts in the ski areas Almwelt Lofer, St. Johann in Tyrol/Oberndorf, Erpfendorf, Pillersee/Buchensteinwand, Kirchdorf, Steinplatte Waidring, Winklmoosalm - Reit im WInkl as well as the Heutal Lifts Unken!
Comfort and pleasure are a top priority in Lofer. The huts and restaurants in particular invite you in to treat your taste buds. Should anyone still prefer to party, you will get your money's worth in the "Hasenstall" at the Loferer Alm or in the "Karrusell" in the valley!
Lofer is nothing to scoff at when it comes to sports either: whether you take a spin on the natural skating rink, dare to go on a speedy descent on one of the tobogganing runs, or savour the magnificent view of the sun-kissed plateau of the Loferer Alm from the branching winter hiking trail network (130 km) – boredom will definitely not set in here! An insider's tip is the tour through the Lamprechts Cave near St. Martin, the world's largest passable cave.
Fans of this Nordic sport will not be left wanting in the Salzburger. The Saalach Valley alone offers a network of idyllically located 80 km of trails. Simpler circuits can be found especially in the valley.
The high altitude tracks on the Loferer Alm (1,450 - 1,500 m) are more demanding and therefore (1,450 - 1,500 m) highly recommendable for all those who are looking for a challenge. There is also the opportunity to take a trip to the Winklmoosalm on the Bavarian side. The 12 km long trail runs slightly uphill and requires a bit of stamina! Those not wanting to give up their Nordic fun in the evening can ski a few rounds on the floodlit track near St. Martin.
If you are planning on practising this exciting type of sports, you are in good hands. With a great scenery and being on diverse and easy slopes you will quickly find happiness in Nordic Skiing.
