The resort of Rauris, situated in the Rauris Valley at an altitude of 950 m, is one of the oldest settlements in the Alps. In the olden days, it was gold mining that enticed visitors to this idyllic village in the Salzburger Land, as gold panning was the main source of income for the inhabitants here at the end of the twenties. Nowadays, this tranquil resort has become ever popular with tourists, yet it has not lost its roots. The Hochalm gondola and the Kreuzboden gondola enable easy access to the Rauris' ski area, which is particularly suitable for families and those looking for peace and quiet. After a day on the piste, you can while away your time either by taking part in one of the many sports activities offered here or in a sociable lodge evening. Definitely worthwhile is a snow-shoe tour through the "Rauris virgin forest".

The recreational possibilities in the quiet town of Rauris have something for every type of holidaymaker. You can round off a day on the piste with a tobogganing party on the lit Kreuzboden lift. The 5 km long natural tobogganing run at Kolm Saigurn, which is easily reached with the "hütten" taxi, also offers all sorts of fun for young and old. Somewhat gentler is a horse-drawn sleigh ride or a torchlit hike through the romantic valley. Adrenaline junkies will certainly get what they need while paragliding. Various evening entertainment options are available. A must for all apres ski fans is the "Heimalm", which entices with a 20 m long heated bar and delicious drinks. The "Hubertus-Schirmbar" at the Hochalm valley station is also a hot spot! Night owls can amuse themselves in the "Rauriser Stadl" or "Shakesbeer" until the wee hours of the morning. If you'd rather have a quieter evening and a good meal, you will be spoilt for choice in the diverse mountain restaurants, taverns and inns.
