High snow-security from November to May, pistes above the timberline, an impressive panorama of the surrounding mountains and the latest snow machines … these are just a few of the many reasons to go for a holiday in Obergurgl-Hochgurgl! The two, rather calm villages Obergurgl (1,930 m) and Hochgurgl (2,150 m) are to be found at the end of the Ötztal on the high alpine road to the Timmelsjoch. In the midst of this beautiful mountain scenery quality beats quantity – especially in Hochgurgl: The exclusive hotel village is made up of just six hotels. Obergurgl is traffic-reduced, at night all driving is completely forbidden! Doorstep skiing is possible in both resorts. The landscape is marked by the surrounding glacier scenery and the impressive mountain views. Obergurgl is not just the highest situated church village in Austria, the ski area is deemed one of the best for snow, due to its exposed location. The atmosphere here is very quaint and the villages are renowned for their hut tradition with evenings spent in the huts and après ski.

It might not be as busy here as in Sölden (just 50 km away), but that doesn't mean you can't have plenty of fun here. The two villages are well-known for the "ski hut culture": Numerous huts welcome you to relax and enjoy this very traditional après ski. You certainly shouldn't miss out on visiting the "Nederhütte" - not only do they offer regional specialities, there is also a varied programme of entertainment including live music, cosy hut evenings and parties on a daily basis. Furthermore, there are two clubs as well as several bars and pubs. If you're looking for fun off the pistes you might enjoy winter hiking, snowshoeing, curling or ice skating. Several times a week you can take part in a night skiing trip. The "Freizeit Arena" (leisure centre) in Sölden is also worth a trip, here you'll find a leisure paradise: Water park, massage jets, sauna area, relaxation baths, indoor sports and bowling!
