Upper Austria 481 m above sea level 2600 inhabitants Summer tourist resort The Village Mondsee is situated on lake Mondsee which is 7 km long and 2,7 km wide. The lake lies south of Salzburg and is one of the warmest lake for bathing with a temperature of 20 degrees most of the time. Culturally the village Mondsee has also got quite a bit to offer. Like for instance a former Benedictine monastery which was established around 748 and was extended to a castle in the 17th century. Especially outstanding is the gothic parish church with many interesting works of art.
