Abtenau is the tranquil, chief city of Lammertals in Salzburger Land and lies at an altitude of 712 m, approx. 60 km south of Salzburg. In summer as well as winter Abtenau has a small village, cosy feeling, which is especially welcomed by families. This is also home to two-time champion and World Cup overall winner Alexandra Meissnitzer and the world champion David Zwilling. The illuminating winter toboggan run offers 3.2 km of tobogganing enjoyment. Also worth a visit is the ice skating rink at the sports centre in Abtenau.

Abtenau looks after its guests - there is something to do every day, including music and theatre events, guided hikes, visits to a farm, slide shows, trips, guided tours through the local museum and wine seminars. Snow shoe hikes (50 km of cleared hiking and walking trails), (night) tobogganing, and horse-drawn sleigh rides are especially nice. There are also activities such as riding, ice sports, paragliding, kiting, snow biking and lots of indoor sporting opportunities including wellness and fitness. At least 20 different taverns and restaurants in Abtenau offer culinary variety. Anyone looking for fantastic après ski in Abtenau should have a look in the "Karkogelbar", the pub "Drunter und Drüber" and the disco "Base".
