How to get there
By car:
From the north: Take the A8 motorway Munich - Oberaudorf (toll-free) - then from Kössen - Erpfendorf - Waidring (travelling time from Munich to Waidring approx. 1,5 hrs).
From the west: Vienna - Salzburg - in the direction of Lofer, Kitzbühel (travelling time Vienna - Waidring approx. 3,5 hrs).
By train:
The nearest train-station is in St. Johann/Tyrol, then take the bus to Waidring.
By plane:
the nearest airports are in Salzburg (47 km) or Munich (150 km).
Location
Waidring, at an altitude of 781 m and with 1938 inhabitants, is located within a wide open valley between the 'Steinplatte' and the 'Loferer Steinberge' mountains, in a place where three regions meet: the Tyrol, Salzburg, and Bavaria.
The village is situated 25 km away from Kitzbühel, 15 km from St. Johann and 7 km from St. Ulrich/Pillersee.
Waidring in summer
The area around Waidring is a real paradise for hikers. Discover the beautiful mountains and have a rest in the sun at an alpine cabin with its own home-made dishes. The area is also perfect for biking, or simply relaxing by one of the romantic bathing lakes.
Waidring in winter
The 'Steinplatte' at Waidring is a skier's paradise in a high-alpine location. Enjoy the uphill ride with the new gondola which has its base terminal directly in the village center. 25 km of well-managed slopes for all abilities are at your disposal, offering perfect skiing and entertaining Aprés-Ski facilities. Tobogganing, 'Schlauchrodeln, 30 km cross-country-slopes, skating, bowlng and some more else will await you here. Subject to alterations.
