About Wagrain - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
Wagrain - enjoy the sprawling Ski amadé!
Wagrain is located in the heart of the Salzburger Land, at an altitude of 850 m. Even though it's a relatively large and lively resort, it has still maintained a "gemütlich", village feel. Due to its situation at the Flachau/Wagrain ski link, there is a perfect connection to the ski area! Alongside its notable apres ski offering, there are numerous facilities and events for families and children, e.g. the "Wasserwelt Amadé" pool complex. Furthermore, the resort has great ski schools, Internet café, restaurants, sports stores and diverse sports and leisure facilities. Days full of activity are guaranteed in Wagrain - just go on holiday!
SkiWith the "Ski amadé" lift pass you have access to an unbelievable 760 km of piste, as well as 270 lifts in this huge lift pass union!
The Salzburger Sports World is situated in the centre of Austria's largest ski area, the "Ski amadé", and meets all the requirements for a successful skiing holiday! Here alone there are 240 kilometres of piste and 91 lift systems at an altitude of 619 - 2,188 m! The sprawling Kleinarl/Flachauwinkl/Zauchensee and Flachau/Wagrain/St. Johann ski areas are the top destinations in the network and owe their notoriety to such events as the Alpine Ski World Cup in Flachau. About 400 Wi-Fi hotspots are available in the ski area, allowing you to freely surf the web. The hotspots can be found at the numerous valley and mountain stations.
Families, beginners and cross-country skiers will find suitable areas, whereas the pros will be drawn to Zauchensee. Diverse fun parks await boarders, for example the Absolut Park in Flachauwinkl.
The ski area Flachau-Wagrain-Alpendorf is especially well-known for its modern lifts and mountain railways. The well equipped chairlifts almost all have a weather hood and heated seats, many also have a security bracket for children that closes automatically.
A highlight awaits all winter sports enthusiasts in the ski area Wagrain-Kleinarl. The ski mountains Grießenkareck and Grafenberg are connected with each other. The gondola "G-Link" crosses the valley and runs between the middle station of the "Flying Mozart" lift and the turn-over point for Grafenberg Express I and II. The two new cabins can each hold up to 130 winter sports fans.
Also child- and family friendliness are very important in the ski area - the area offers eleven ski schools, childcare facilities, ski-game-lessons for the little ones from 2 years, and children's ski lessons for children from 4 years. Further highlights are the "Winterwelt" Wagrain, the Alpine Coaster in Flachau as well as the "Teufelsweg" with adventurous folk figures.
Apres ski in Wagrain is no half task. There's something for everyone here - whether relaxing in a rustic mountain lodge, lapping up the party atmosphere or having a cosy cocktail, the choice is huge! Countless restaurants attract guests with their regional specialities.
If you are looking for a change of activity you can visit the pool complex "Wasserwelt Amadé" with over 450 m² of water space. The extensive complex offers, e.g. activity pool, closed slide, current system, baby pool, sauna, massages and jacuzzi.
Further possibilities for things to do are horse-drawn sleigh rides, curling, snowshoe hiking or tobogganing, also on the illuminated run in the evenings! The indoor tennis courts, approx. 20 km of winter hiking trails and a climbing hall provide further sporty alternatives.
The Salzburger Sports World is an ideal destination for cross-country skiers. 260 km of mainly challenging trails are mostly available free of charge, of which 45 km are near Filzmoos, 19 km near Altenmarkt, 40 km near Flachau and 15 km around Wagrain. The majority of the trails are linked to each other, which ensures comfortable access.
A hot tip is the trail at altitude, Rossbrand which is directly next to Filzmoos: a comfortable ascent up to 1,600 m with the Papageno gondola, from there you have access to the 16 km long trail and can enjoy a magnificent view with perfect snow conditions!
On the flood-lit trails near Flachau you can see the surroundings in a different light - a highlight for all cross-country fans!
