Stans - family idyll and attractive pistes!
The family friendly village of Stans is located at the foot of the Karwendel Mountains in the Unterinntal. With a ski lift located in town and due to its close vicinity to the ski areas Kellerjoch, Weerberg and Zillertal, Stans offers much diversity for an active holiday maker. This amazing landscape can be explored through exciting toboggan rides, romantic snow-shoe hikes and torch hikes. The lovely nature around Stans offers relaxation and recuperation for everyone. And the "Wolfsklamm", located close by in the Tyrolean Karwendel is an additional highlight for all nature lovers and you shouldn't give it a miss.
SkiIn Stans, one single lift is at your disposal. The piste right in the resort is above all suited for beginners. Additionally, there are two magic carpet rides for the youngest skiers. Twice per week, the piste is flood-lit, making it possible to ski until evening time.
With the "Zillertaler Superskipass" you can choose between 506 km of piste in the ski areas of Hochfügen, at the Spieljoch, in Hochzillertal, the Zillertal Arena (Zell, Gerlos, Königsleiten, Wald, Krimml and Gerlosstein), at Penken, Ahorn, at the Horberg, in the "Ski and Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000" (Finkenberg, Eggalm, Rastkogl, Hintertux Glacier) and at the Wildkogel-Arena at Bramberg. The ski areas are all perfectly connected by a free shuttle bus system commuting between the areas. Since a few years, the Zillertal Arena offers free-of-charge Wi-Fi in all of its ski areas! In other words, not only can you enjoy the white bliss and the sun, but also share your latest experiences and highlights directly with your loved ones at home.
The winter sport paradise of Hochfügen, reaching up to heights of 2,377m, is located directly at the entrance of the Zillertal valley. Here, ski and snowboard fans can find everything that their hearts desire. Regardless of whether you are a family with children, beginners or professional skiers - this snow safe ski area, through its multifaceted and perfectly prepared pistes, has something to offer! Heavenly pistes above the treetops give you breathtaking views of the beautiful snow-covered mountain landscape. The snow park with a half-pipe awakens the enthusiasm of snowboarders! And for lovers of nerve-wrecking fun, Hochfügen offers off-piste opportunities. Make your way with gondolas, lifts and a short walk on foot, and you can explore high-alpine areas - outside the safety zone.
Through the interconnection of Hochfügen and Hochzillertal, as well as Spieljoch areas, a total of approx. 94 km of diverse pistes are at your disposal.
Outside the pistes there is much to experience. Stans offers its guests an attractive free time and activities programme, the majority of which is free of cost. Take a minute and register with the town's tourist association. Activities are offered here include toboggan rentals for the 2 km long toboggan run from Grafenast to Arzberg - a real tip! Let yourself be guided on a snowshoe hike through wonderfully snowy landscapes.
In the evening, toboggan races by torchlight are offered, or perhaps go on a romantic walk by lantern light. You can also spoil yourself in the many restaurants and taverns of the village. A culinary highlight of the ski area Kaltenbach-Hochzillertal are the crystal huts, who were awarded the best ski huts of 2014 by Skiresort.de, the world's largest ski area review portal. The huts themselves, which can be found in the mountain station Kristall-Express at an altitude of 2,150 m, offers you young, creative cuisine at attractive prices. Fresh, regional products are served. In the inner huts, you can find an open fireplace as well as quaint parlours, and nice weather providing, a bar-adjacent sun terrace with lounge chairs and water beds can be enjoyed. In addition, since the winter season 2013/2014, a wine celler has been added.
Surrounding Stans are 30 km of optimally prepared cross-country skiing tracks which lead skiers through fields and meadows. Enjoy the peace of nature and the winter landscapes away from all the stress and hectic everyday life!
Should the selection not be enough, there are some more tracks to be found e.g. in the 20 km distant holiday region Hochfügen - Hochziller Valley. Here you will find approx. 80 km for free use, including some wonderful high-altitude trails with an impressive view all round the Zillertal!
In the Karwendel area you will also find a number of tracks available - including 5 high-altitude tracks and the 30 km long trail from the Hinterriss to Eng in the Alpine park Karwendel.
