Stams is a village in the western part of Tyrol on 671 m of lake height and has 1454 inhabitants. The town is known for its monastery of the Cistercian order. For those who look for a relaxing place for their holidays Stams is the right choice but also sport activities are high on the list!

How to get there
Stams can be comfortably reached by car and is well connected to public transport.
by Car:
Motorway A12 - take exit Mötz/Stams (from both directions).
by Train:
Railway station Stams.
by Aeroplane:
The nearest airport is Innsbruck.
Distances: Innsbruck approx. 37 km.

Summer resort
Stams is an ideal starting point for walks, such as a walk through the Stamser oakwood with a well marked educational trail, to the Mieminger plateau and to the pilgrimage church Maria Locherboden . For those looking for a little bit more of action crossing of the Inn on a suspension bridge might be the right thing to do. One of the highlight in Stams which must not be missed is the monastery of the Cistercian order built in 1273.

Walks, cross-country, ice skating, Stams offers the right thing for everybody. Winter sports is a big issue in Stams since the middle school and the ski highschool located in town are known as the places where the young talents of the Austrian ski-jumpers and skiers are forged!
