Salzburg (population 150,000 in 2006) is the fourth largest city in Austria, the capital of the federal state of Salzburg.

In this building were held sometimes even high society balls from Salzburg.
In 1920, the foundations of the city festival (Salzburger Festspiele), an important annual cultural event, whose tradition has survived until today. In the 1960s to build a space for these festivities (Festspielhaus).
In 1997 the city of Salzburg is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List
