About Saalfelden - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
Ritzensee and the Kollingwald Forest adjacent are the recreational areas for the city of Saalfelden. The lake is used in summer as a bathing lake and in winter for ice skating. There are several castles nearby, including the 14th-century Schloss Lichtenberg. The late Gothic chapel of St. George (1675) is on the southern side of Steinernes Meer.
The trails and trails are used in winter as cross-country trails. There are several ski salts in the village of Uttenhofen, including the ski resort Felix Gottwald and a Nordic combination center. Saalfelden has gained fame in the sports of langlauf and biathlon through his top athletes: Felix Gottwald, Simon Eder, Julian Eberhard and Tobias Eberhard.
The main river in the basin is Saalach. It rises in the upper valley of the Glemm, empties into the basin south of Saalfelden and passes through it from south to north. A straight stream of the Saalach that flows through the Saalfelden district from east to west is the Urslau stream. A left tributary, Leoganger Ache, empties into the western Saalach. In addition, there are several smaller tributary flows.
