Saalbach - the ultimate winter holiday!
The well-known resort of Saalbach, in the middle of a breathtaking mountain setting, lies at 1,003 m. The Glemm Valley used to be a poor farmers' valley, but today it entices with lively villages and a winter sports paradise. The bypass tunnel means the centre is virtually traffic-free, so that it's possible to take an easy stroll through the pedestrian zone.
The route to the lifts and pistes is short, and the sporting, apres ski and culture opportunities leave nothing to be desired. There is almost every activity here, that you may wish to partake in! Besides some relaxed shopping in the pedestrian zone you can also try tobogganing, snow rafting and snow tubing or a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride.
SkiThe lift pass "Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Fieberbrunn" gives you access to seamless skiing fun on incredible 270 km of piste in the new lift connection "Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn". With its motto "two federal states, one ski lift", the connection between the Skicircus and Fieberbrunn with a total of 70 lifts and a huge selection of piste can be counted among the largest ski areas in the world.
The 10-person gondola puts the new connection into practice and increases the selection of pistes by 20 percent. The new gondola runs from the valley station Reckmoos-South to the middle station at the valley of Hörndlingergraben, and finally up to the Reiterkogel, i.e. the ski area's centre. On an altitude of 2,096 m, pure fun on the slopes is guaranteed!
New for the 2018/2019 winter season is the 10-person single cable lift, the Kohlmaisbahn, which splits into two routes. The lift replaces the old same-name group lift and carries up to 3,200 passengers per hour. The Asitzmuldenbahn lift was also invested in: the old 6-person lift has been replaced with a modern 8-person chair lift with heated seats, bubbles and automatic restraint bars. The new lift carries up to 3,500 passengers per hour.
The ski circus offers numerous beautiful carving slopes, mogul pistes, steep slopes, a racing track with time keeping and two flood-lit pistes. Huge amounts of snow making system cater for guaranteed snow.
If you would like to explore the blue pleasure pistes around Saalbach, including the world cup piste at the Kohlmais, you're recommended to try the Saalbach circuit. On a length of 16 km is surrounds the resort on both sides of the Glemm valley slopes.
Pros can show off their skills on the pistes "Zwölferkogel Nord" and "Schattberg Nord". Wonderful freeride opportunities can be found at the Zwölferkogel West and Schattberg-West, but those are definitely only reserved for true professionals. Free riders will feel comfortable on the funcross trails and down the deeply black and very challenging northern slopes. Freestylers will find a true paradise in the ski circus: you can let of steam in three snowparks and a boardercross slope. In the whole ski circus there are more than 30 Wi-Fi hotspots available.
The connected ski area Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn form a huge, lively ski area and offers numerous diverse pistes surrounded by a wonderful mountain backdrop. Advanced skiers who are looking for something really special will find wildly ramified slopes, mogul pistes, as well as speed trails and snowparks that await to be explored and tested. Here is a great place to start skiing holidays for professionals!
Beginners will also feel welcome in the ski area: a total of 140 km of blue and green pistes provide the perfect opportunity to spend your ski holiday as a beginner. Families with kids will also get their money's worth. Directly the the Asitz gondola's valley station you can find the children's area Leo's Kinderland. The practise area with a magic carpet, children's carousel, snow igloo and a knight's castle is ideally suited for kids that try skiing for the first time. It is not for nothing that Saalbach is one of the most popular ski areas in the Alpes – everyone excited for skiing will find a place for themselves.

Starting with 19/20 winter season the two ski areas, Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Fieberbrunn and Zell am See/Kaprun are joining to form a new lift pass - Ski Alpin Card - which allows access to a total of 408 km of piste and 119 lifts!
The colder the temperatures, the hotter the atmosphere! Après ski is the name of the game in Saalbach and Hinterglemm! Already during the day, around numerous rustically cosy huts invite you in to toast to a perfect day's skiing, and are the magnet of après ski. A visit to the "Hinterhagalm" and the "Bauer's Schi-Alm" is compulsory for every après ski fan! Numerous bars and pubs in all style variations continue this in the evening and invite you in to party and flirt. Even the discos have something for every music taste, whether that be rock, pop, rave, techno, foxtrot or a waltz. Those looking for Oktoberfest atmosphere in Winter will find just that at the mountain station of the Asitz lift at 1,763 m in the AsitzBräu. It's not much of a surprise that the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn was already awarded for its large offer of apres ski possibilities.
For anyone who would prefer it a bit cosier, there are numerous restaurants and cafés available. Just ask your host where you can eat the original "Pinzgauer meals". Or take a relaxing stroll through the virtually traffic-free village. Sporting facilities are also numerous: no matter if ice skating, tobogganing, high-speed snow-tubing or romantic rides in horse-drawn sledges, there is something for everyone.
Saalbach Hinterglemm offers a cross-country skiing area that is small, but still great. There is a 2 km long high-altitude cross-country trail at an altitude of 1,100 - 1,400 m (ascent with the Reiterkogelbahn) and a 10 km long valley cross-country trail near Hinterglemm, which leads to Lindlingalm.
In Saalfelden Leogang you will find another 150 km of cross-country trail. The cross-country skiing areas around Saalfelden Leogang are connected to the extensive network of cross-country trails in the Saalachtal valley, which offers about 80 kilometres of perfectly groomed tracks. Fieberbunn extends the offer by a further 22 kilometres of cross-country trails.
