Summer resort
The 'Zillertaler Hauptkamm' ridge, with its 372 km², was previously decreed a protected area - now it belongs to a nature reserve. For walkers and lovers of unspoilt nature, this crest is a real gem. The Zillertal high-alpine walk, with its walks from cabin to cabin, crosses the nature reserve.
Winter resort
In the Tuxertal valley - a side valley of the Zillertal - lies Austria's most attractive skiing area. The lifts and cable cars reach from 1,500 to 3,250 m and operate the whole year round. 3 cable cars, 8 chair-lifts and 10 drag-lifts invite you to make use of a ski pass - available 365 days a year - giving access to 86 km of broad and excellently-prepared pistes.
A tour - with an experienced mountain guide from the mountain sport school - leads through the frozen brooks and up to what appears to be a magestic ice tower. With the mountain-climbing and ice-climbing facilties, the numerous themed walks and the tandem paragliding flights, adventurous types will get their money's worth on the Hintertuxer glacier!
