Pertisau - Away from all the hustle and bustle!
The small resort of Pertisau is idyllically located on the west bank of the lake Achensee. At 950 m, you can enjoy the lovely Tyrolean lifestyle without the crowds. The village is at an ideal location for cross-country skiers as well as winter hikers, which is thanks in part to its proximity to the ''Karwendelgebirge'' range, one of the largest interconnected nature reserves in Tyrol. Aside from the pistes, there is a plethora of other activities, for example, a visit to the modern activity centre, or the opportunity to be delighted by the homey regional cuisine. Pertisau is also known for its cross-country offers with various tracks to follow, whilst enjoying the magnificent view of the surrounding mountains.
SkiThe ski area "Zwölferkopf" in Pertisau is with a total of 12 km of pistes at an altitude of 960 - 1,560 a clear, but still diversified ski area that can crow with great panorama views over the Achensee. It can be easily reached from Pertisau via the Karwendel lift. Professionals will find the 3 km long Breitlahner run, that leads up to the Zwölferkopf with an altitude difference of 550 m.
With the upgrade to the "Region Achensee" lift pass (see ski region), you have access to a total of 50 km of diverse pistes. The neighbouring ski area Rofan near Maurach is known for its great deep powder snow at the Seekarspitze as well as its marvellous touring ski area at the Rofanspitze.
The ski area Rofan is approx. 10 km away from Pertisau and can be reached comfortably with a free shuttle bus. You can also reach the neighbouring resort Achenkirch with the same shuttle bus, where the ski area Christlum has 27 km of further pistes that awaits to be explored by you.
The region around the lake Achensee sets itself apart from the other après ski strongholds with peace and quiet as well as beautiful natural surroundings. A typical Tyrolean evening can be enjoyed, complete with exquisite food and drink to draw a successful day of skiing cosily and delightfully to a close. For those who can't deny the urge to stay out a little later, there are a few little bars and ski huts in Pertisau and in the surrounding resorts.
For the more active types, there are numerous, diverse winter hiking trails around the Achensee and its resorts. The ski areas at the Achensee offer even more toboggan runs, which can also be used at night.
You also have the opportunity to learn new trendy types of sports, e.g. snow kite. The first licensed snow kite school was established in Achenkirch in 2010. With assistance of the wind and a big stunt kite on the skis or snowboard you can learn how to glide through the winter wonderland over the snowy grass or runs.
The region Achensee includes one of the largest and best-kept networks of cross-country trails in Austria, and received a rating of 4 stars from the ADAC in the category cross-country. In total, there are over 200 km of trails of all levels of difficulty and catering to all styles (classic and skating). Beginners can participate in classes in all resorts.
The resort Pertisau offers approx. 40 km of cross-country trails, of which approx. 37.5 km can be used as skating trails. An absolute highlight for cross-country fans is the trail from Pertisau into the Falzthurn valley, which spans over 14 km through the dense escarpments of the Karwendel into a sunny valley.
For everyone who has never been on the narrow cross-country skis and wants to learn the northern sports, Pertisau offers a practice trail for the first attempts. Further there is also a dog trail and certain tracks for sledge attachments.
At the beginning of January the Nordic Achensee race takes place in the region, where ambitious cross-country skiers go on a 30 km long and very demanding route. The little ones can practice on the Mini-Achesee trail. At the end of February the Achensee 3-valley-run takes places.
The cross-country trail network in the Achensee region is awarded with a seal of quality.
