About Pass Thurn - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
Pass Thurn - close to high society!
The Pass Thurn is located at 1,274 m altitude in the Kitzbühel Alps. The closest located resorts in the valley which connects Tyrol with Pinzgau, are Kitzbühel in the north and Mittersill in the south. The Alpine pass, which was formed by glaciers in the last ice age, is ideal for all enthusiasts of cross-country skiing and therefore provides a very special experience. At 1,250 m altitude lies the 10 km Hochmoor panoramic trail, which offers not only a great view of the Hohe Tauern but also romantic, white forests which emit a wonderful feeling of tranquillity. Skier and snowboarders will also find an ideal access point to the ski area of Kitzbühel here: the chair lift "Resterhöhe" takes you up the mountain in the blink of an eye. From Hollersbach you can take the panorama lift up to the mountain station.
SkiWith 185 kilometres of piste, the "Kitzbühel" lift pass offers perfect ski enjoyment. The chair lift "Resterhöhe" starts directly at Pass Thrun, the panoramic gondola directly in Hollersbach im Tal - the ideal connection to the ski area with its 57 lifts, which bring you comfortably to the pistes on Gaisberg, Pengelstein, Hahnenkamm, Kitzbüheler Horn and Resterhöhe, and up to 2,000 m.
The speed, carving and slalom slopes are special attractions, with the highlight being the steepest competitive slope in the world, the Streif - a must for passionate winter athletes! This also where the annual Hahnenkamm race takes place. With the 3S cable car a fantastic interconnected ski area has been created, which offers you the opportunity to use the pistes from Krichberg, via Kitzbühel and Jochberg, right up to the Skiarena Resterhöhe in Pass Thurn.
The "Mercedes-Benz Snowpark" is a true boarders paradise: with quarter-pipe, tables, slides and jumps on the Hanglalm a snowboarder's heart will definitely beat faster.
The easy runs on Gaisberg, Ehrenbachhöhe and Pengelstein are ideal for families. All around Bichlalm, Pengelstein and Steinbergkogel, there are numerous marked ski routes for all skill levels, as well as excellent deep-powder runs off-piste.
A special highlight in this ski area are the 40 free Wi-Fi hotspots it offers for all its visitors! Only a few easy steps are required to access the Internet and you can instantly supply your friends and family with your holiday news and photos.
For those who live for variety, we recommend the "Super Ski Card" lift pass (see ski region), which is also valid in the ski areas of e.g. Wilder Kaiser - Brixental, Schneewinkel and "Ski Juwel" (Alpbachtal - Wildschönau). You can enjoy 23 ski regions in Tyrol and Salzburg on 2,750 km of pistes.
Kitzbühel is known beyond its borders for its incomparable après ski. Already in the ski area and at the valley stations, numerous ski lodges invite you in for refreshment, such as the "Sonnenbergalm" or "Tonis Hütte". Famous-notorious spots in resort include the "5erl", "Pavillon", "Londoner" and "Klausenfalle", where après ski is claimed to be founded. Later in the evening you can move on to the "Highways" or "Jimmy's". Numerous restaurants entice guests to dine and enjoy international cuisine.
The resort doesn't just attract fun-oriented visitors, but also nature lovers. The wonderful mountains can be experienced on hiking trails along the frozen ponds and lakes, or on a snowshoe tour over the region's loveliest hills. Special highlights on these hiking tours are the trails along the Hintersteuerberg or along the unique lake promenade of Lake Schwarz. If the ice is thick enough, the lake also invites you to take a twirl on skates and does not only make children's eys sparkle. The lighted 3.5 km long toboggan run at Gaisberg/Kirchberg is also a great experience, as is a horse-drawn sleigh ride or a torchlight hike through the snowy landscape.
In Mittersill cosy restaurants and bars invite you to relax. Besides various recreational sports offers, you can also enjoy the wonderful winter landscape during a romantic sleigh ride.
A special highlight for cross-country skiers is the 22 km long "Hochmoor" panorama trail, which is easily reached from Pass Thurn. From an altitude of 1,274 m you can enjoy the beautiful view of the Hohe Tauern mountain range. In Mittersill there is additionally the 3 km-long "Blizzard" trail.
The region Kitzbühel also offers some wonderful tracks to discover! All round Kitzbühel, Aurach and Reith there are 60 km of trails, the total region offers about 250 km.
