Ossiach, with only 753 inhabitants the main holiday resort on the south shores of lake 'Ossiacher See' (510 m altitude), caters for all needs!
On the one hand there is stunning mountain scenery, unspoiled landscape, crystal-clear waters, and on the other hand the town boasts a magnificent, baroque-style Benedictine Abbey dating back to the 11th century, and offers a wide range of culture activities, such as the 'Carinthischer Sommer' events, concerts by gifted musicians, and a lot more.
How to get there
By car:
Via Salzburg - motorway A 10 to Villach/lake 'Ossiacher See' - follow federal road 94 to Ossiach am See (about 225 km)
Via Vienna - motorway A2 to Völkermarkt - Klagenfurt - Feldkirchen - Ossiach am See (about 355 km)
From Italy via motorway A 2 from Udine - Tarvis - Villach/lake 'Ossiacher See' - Ossiach am See (about 155 km)
By train:
Direct train connections from Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands to express train station Villach. Continue to Feldkirchen by regional train connections and then by bus to Ossiach am See.
By airplane:
Klagenfurt airport: 35 km (international connecting flights)
Summer resort
The beautiful Ossiach Tauern mountain range forms a splendid and popular area for cycling and hikers in the south of Ossiach.
The warm and clean water of the 11 km long bathing lake 'Ossiacher See' (52 m depth) offers a wide range of water sports activities such as swimming, surfing, sailing, water skiing, para-sailing, cayaking and even romantic night cruises on the lake and on the river Drau.
Alternatively the Ossiach Adventure Pool ensures action and fun for the whole family. Among other attractions you will find there an inline skating court and Carinthia's longest water chute (92 m in length).
Outdoor tennis and a summer toboggan run are also at your disposal.
To relax body and soul visit the 'Bach Flowers therapy center'.
