About Oetz Tirol - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
Oetz - the family-friendly ski area in the Ötztal!
Surrounded by the Stubai and Ötztal Alps, the resort Oetz (820 m) is located at the entrance to the homonymous valley. The cosy town offers diversity for those who prefer a quieter holiday. Typical Tyrolean farm houses with colourful painting, quaint and cosy guest houses and white chapels contribute to the romantic ambiance just as much as the Piburg lake does. Skiers will find the manageable and therefore family-friendly ski area Hochoetz directly in front of the door. The lively resorts Längenfeld and Sölden are to be found not too far away. Here, party and fun away from the pistes is the predominant factor.
SkiJust above the resort Oetz, located at the entrance to the homonymous valley, the ski area Hochoetz stretches over 1,410 - 2,272 m. With the "Ski region Hochoetz-Kühtai" lift pass you can also access the bordering ski area of Kühtai (1,938 - 2,520) and thereby a total of 80 km of piste.
With the modern Acherkogel lift you can reach the mountain station at 2,200 m altitude within only 8 minutes. Freshly prepared pistes weave through lovely winter forests of the Hochoetz ski area (36 km of piste) and ensure unforgettable holiday impressions. With mainly blue and red runs on offer as well as 15 cable cars and lifts, the ski area presents itself well-manageable and therefore especially family-friendly. Wonderful valley runs open up from the Hochoetz middle station (the longest being 2,8 km) or from the Brunnerkopf right down to the Ochsengarten, located in a side valley. Well appreciated is also the family route "Kühtaile".
The youngest skiers can enjoy themselves in the Kids Land in Hochoetz. During the "Happy Family Weeks" (15/12 - 22/12/2018 and 12/01 - 26/01/2019 as well as 16/03 - 06/04/2019), a free 5 day ski course or 5 days of child-care in the Hochoetz ski kindergarten is offered for all children born in 2013 or later (ID required, children need to be toilet-trained!), that are on a holiday of 7 nights or longer. More information is available in the resort.
The ski area Oetz/Hochoetz was voted the best family and children's ski area in 2014. The area's child friendliness, the many childcare services for children from 2 years in kindergartens and the 3 children's parks, as well as the "Happy Family Weeks" were especially underlined.
Those who still cannot get enough can look forward to approx. 356 km of perfectly prepared pistes an 90 modern lift systems in the entire Oetz valley with the "Ötztaler Superskipass" (see ski region).
Oetz invites its guests into cosy and quaint ski huts and pubs in the resort to celebrate a quieter form of apres ski. Families can enjoy a relaxing walk through the idyllic and romantic winter landscape. In Oetz-Piburg the toboggan run offers good entertainment for young and old and is open until 23:00 and on the natural ice rink of the Piburg lake you can have a go at ice skating. Party animals should visit the nearest resorts Längenfeld and Sölden. Here you will find après ski pubs, discos and numerous other possibilities to end the skiing day with a good party.
Families can enjoy an idyllic and romantic evening walk on one of the 20 winter hiking paths. In Oetz-Piburg, young and old will have fun on the toboggan run or go ice skating on Piburg lake! Those looking for relaxation should pay a visit to the Aqua Dome with thermal area, sauna and spa offers in Längenfeld.
Oetz offers various romantic round courses starting at the edge of the resort with a total of 10 km length. A free shuttle bus takes you from Oetz to the high altitude tracks to Kühtai and Niederthai.
Nordic skiing fans will find their terrain at the cross-country centre in Längenfeld with a total of 50 km of trails. Additionally the other resorts in the Ötztal have their own tracks, including numerous snow-sure high-altitude trails as well as a flood-lit trail at Hochgurgl. The entire Ötztal offers 143 km of trails.
The Längenfeld, Gries and Niederthal cross-country trail network is labelled with a quality seal.
