Oberndorf, known as the 'family nest', has 1700 inhabitants and is a holiday resort amid unspoilt nature. Situated at a sea level of 700 m, surrounded by the magnificent Kitzbühel Alps and the picturesque 'Wilder Kaiser' mountain range.
How to get there
By car:
Via Munich - motorway A8 - Kufstein (motorway toll free until exit Kufstein-Süd) - St. Johann - Oberndorf (about 120 km)
Via Innsbruck - Wörgl - St. Johann - Oberndorf (about 90 km)
Via Lienz - Felbertauern - Thurn pass - Kitzbühel - Oberndorf (about 95 km)
By train:
Express trains to Kitzbühel or St. Johann, then continue by local train to Oberndorf/Wiesenschwang
By plane:
Munich International airport: 150 km
Innsbruck airport: 95 km (international connecting flights)
Salzburg airport: 80 km (international connecting flights)
Summer resort
Oberndorf offers a network of marked footpaths ranging from romantic strolls through scenic surroundings to demanding climbing tours in the 'Wilder Kaiser' mountain range.
You will find kilometers of cycling trails to St. Johann and Kitzbühel and mountainbike tracks for all levels. Many leisure facilities for the whole family are available including an outdoor swimming pool (626 m2) with water slide, outdoor tennis courts and a marvellous 18-hole golf course nearby at Kitzbühel.
Winter resort
The skiing area St. Johann-Oberndorf (700 - 1700 m) offers 60 km of prepared slopes for all ability levels and a total of 17 lifts (2 cable cars, 5 chair lifts and 10 T-bars). Several snow-making machines ensure ideal conditions. Whether for alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, tobogganing or winter hiking - Oberndorf is a top destination for the young and the old. A flood-lit toboggan run promisses evening activity with unlimited action and fun. Après ski fun is guaranteed in cosy huts on the mountains and charming bars and restaurants in Oberndorf and the nearby St. Johann.
