About Munster - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
Münster – gateway to the Alpbachtal!
The idyllic resort Münster lies in the Inn Valley, at the gateway to the Alpbachtal and offers everything a winter sports fan can wish for. Reith im Alpbachtal can be reached after about 7 km and here, you'll have the chance to enter the Ski Juwel ski area. Furthermore, Zillertal can also be reached in just a few minutes by car.
Moreover, Münster also has a diverse leisure time programme on offer. The romantic castle Lipperheide from the 19th century with altering events, e.g. art exhibitions, is worth a visit. Or enjoy the wonderful winter landscape on a winter hike or during a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride.
SkiThanks to the connection between the ski areas Wildschönau and the Alpbachtal via the new gondola, the lift pass "Ski Juwel" can now provide a total of 109 km of piste (incl. ski routes) to explore. This includes the ski areas Markbachjoch/Lanerköpfl, Oberau, Schatzberg, as well as Kramsach, Reither Kogel and Wiedersberger Horn. The region is accessible via 46 lifts, situated between 830 and 2,025 m altitude. Various descents, catering for all levels of difficulty, ensure that from beginner to pro, everybody is well-entertained here.
Children will feel right at home at Bobo's Kinderclub (kid's club), for example. For families and pleasure skiers, the Schatzberg an Reither Kogel are especially recommendable. More ambitious skiers however, should venture over to the northern slopes of Markbachjoch and Lanerköpfl, as well as to the deep powder snow and freeride areas with a total of 16 km of designated ski routes.
Also those who love to ski under the stars can do so on the two illuminated pistes at Reith. The pistes are open two nights a week and once per week a ski touring evening is organised. In Oberau as well the various piste offers can be easily reached with the complementary ski bus. In Alpbach there are a total of 3 gondolas available to use. For snowboarders there is a snowpark located at the Wiederberger Horn, the funpark on the Schatzberg, as well as a the "Race 'n' Board Arena" in Niederau, which all provide for great fun and action.
A great upgrade for the Season of 2016/2017: measure your speed on the new Eva-Maria Brem giant slalom racing track at Reither Kogel!
Further, there are 20 "Hotzones" available, where you can access the Wi-Fi network for free. Share your snowy photos and send greetings home in an instant!
By upgrading your lift pass to the Super Ski Card, you can choose between more than 2,794 km of piste and 925 lifts in 25 ski regions!
Après ski in the Alpbachtal starts already with a stop in one of the cosy mountain huts. Here, you can enjoy a hearty meal to fill up your energy tank, followed by some sociable partying. Après ski fans should definitively try the "Gondelalm": the inner furnishing is entirely made up from old gondola cabins. However, the "Liftstüberl", "Achenwirt", the "Postalm" and the "Jakober" are great places to enjoy a good party.
For those who prefer the quieter version of après ski, there are numerous restaurants to enjoy some region specialities, or you can take part in torch hikes or night tobogganing. In the Alpbachtal there are a total of eight toboggan runs - two of those in Alpbach and Inneralpbach. On the local ice rink, skaters can have a go at their pirouettes. Further, there are snowshoe hikes, guided winter hikes and horse-drawn sleigh rides available.
In Münster, there is the Grünsbach trail, with a total length of 6 km and an average tracking, as well as a skating trail which also suitable for beginners.
The resorts Breitenbach, Reith and Brixlegg, which are located in close proximity to Münster and offer further trails, which enlarges the network of the Alpbachtal to approx. 56 km in total. Some trails are also awarded with the Quality Seal. Alpbach offers 21 km of perfectly maintained trails at a high skill level. The 4 km long high-altitude trail at the Reither Kogel not only promises great snow conditions, but also a magnificent view of the beautiful winter panorama.
