General information
The charming town of Millstatt lies at a sea level of 588 m. This historical town is blessed with a mild southern climate, green woods, rolling hills and of course, the crystal clear waters of Millstätter See. With 3270 inhabitants it is still classed as a small village, this however, doesn't stop it from boasting some of the most remarkable land marks and Roman ruins yet to be seen. Millstatt is perfect for the culturally interested, the active and for families. A wonderful place to relax, enjoy nature or to undertake sporting activities that you don't usually have time for.
How to get there
By car:
Via Salzburg follow the Tauernautobahn, highway (A10), to Spittal - Villach - exit: Millstätter See - Millstatt (about 160 km).
By train:
By train to Spittal, then by bus or taxi to Millstatt - about 10 km.
By plane:
Klagenfurt airport: 80 km (international connecting flights)
Salzburg airport: 160 km (international connecting flights)
Summer resort
'Millstätter See' with a size of 13 km2 and its warm clean waters, is an ideal playground for all water sport enthusiasts. It offers sailing, waterski, parasailing, diving and more. Several tennis courts and an indoor swimming pool are also at your disposal. On a sunny panorama-Plateau a marvellous 18-hole golf course overlooks the lake. Walking and hiking on the Nockberge around Millstatt is a special experience for the whole family. Fishing is also very famous (Fishing competition in September). And with the new 'Millstätter See Inclusive Card', fun in the water is guaranteed.
Winter resort
The 'Ski-Dorado Goldeck' (560 - 2142m) in Spittal is close to the Millstätter See (10 km) and offers 22 km pisted runs for all abilities. Cross country skiers can choose from about 50 km of marked trails and the nature toboggan run promises lots of fun for the whole family.
