Maurach - away from the hustle & bustle!
The small, yet fine resort of Maurach is located at 980 m on the southern shore of Achensee. Snow enjoyment and relaxation are top priorities here. The village's rustic Tyrolean charm is very inviting and many restaurants offer culinary delight. Particularly nice is its close proximity to the ski area. Guests can comfortably reach the Maurach ski area with the Rofan lift. A "flight" with the new sky glider "Airrofan" ensures an adrenaline rush; soar like an eagle over the Gschöllkopf, down 200 m at 85 km/h! Off-piste, guests can relax with sport activities such as tobogganing, or go on a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride along the lake. The Notburga art museum is also definitely worth a day trip.
SkiThe "Maurach" lift pass offers access to 14 km of well-prepared piste at altitudes from 980 - 1,834 m. With four lifts, including the Rofan lift, you will comfortably reach the lovely ski area, which is ideal for families who are looking for a quiet hoiliday. The little skiers can make their first moves and they can enjoy the "Ski-kinderland" in the valley on smooth practice slopes and great courses. Playful learning stands in the foreground, whereby Bobo the penguin and Snowy the snow rabbit love to help as well
Numerous snow-making systems ensure perfect pistes until spring. You can find great deep snow areal on the Seekarspitze, as well as the fantastic ski tour area on the Rofanspitze.
The spectacular attraction "Skyglider AirRofan" promises breathtaking thrill. The flight equipment races approx. 200 m down with approx. 80 km/h from the Gschöllkopf (2,040). From the surrounding you can also watch the daring ones, who glide of the Rofan.
The region around Achensee differentiates itself from the apres ski strongholds with its tranquillity and lovely natural surroundings. The days end cosily and with pleasure - enjoy a typical Tyrolean evening with fine food and drink, music, entertainment and concerts. Numerous winter hiking trails around Achensee and its resorts are also available. Maurach also offers several tobogganing runs, including night tobogganing until 11 p.m.! A special treat for action fans is the new "Airrofan": with this unique flight experience, you can - attached to an 800 m long rope - view Achensee from above, and at speeds of up to 85 km/h, it's not something for the faint of heart!
The Achensee region boasts one of the largest and best maintained cross-country networks in Austria and has been distinguished with four stars by the ADAC regarding cross-country skiing! A total of 200 km of trail covering all levels of difficulty and style are available, and beginners can take lessons in all resorts.
Maurach also offers 33 km of cross-country trails, 12 km of which can also be used as skating trails. Maurach is also home to many very recommended cross-country trails! An absolute highlight for cross-country fans is the trail from Pertisau to Falzthurn Valley, which runs over 14 km long, directly under the Karwendel cliff wall into a sunny valley. Pure cross-country fun can be had on the Guffert trail, which is 12 km long.
Several dog trails are also available in Pertisau, which however require a fee.
The cross-country trail network in the Achensee region is awarded with a seal of quality.
