About Kirchberg Bei Kitzbuhel - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
Kirchberg - in the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps!
Romantically set in the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps lies the cosy town of Kirchberg at an altitude of 837 m. It could also be referred to as "Kitzbühel's little sister", although it is in no way inferior when counting the number of overnight stays. The town centre is very nicely designed and has little traffic. A small pedestrian zone invites you to a peaceful afternoon of shopping and strolling, and the town even offers some après ski with its various discos, bars and pubs.
Anyone wanting to experience the unique Kitzbühel feeling should not miss a trip to the pedestrian zone there. Kirchberg is especially ideal for families and beginners, and the new 3S gondola offers the perfect connection to the ski areas of Jochberg and Pass Thurn. There is nothing to get in the way of an exciting ski safari!
SkiWith 185 kilometres of piste (230 km including the ski routes!), the "Kitzbühel" lift pass offers perfect ski enjoyment. 57 lifts bring you comfortably to the pistes of Kirchberg, Jochberg and Kitzbühel, located between 800 and 2,000 m altitude. The ski area "Kitzbühel" is known as a real Mecca for winter sports fans, due to its annual ski world cup competitions. From 21/01 - 27/01/2019 there international ski elite will be meeting up again in Kitzbühel for the 79th Hahnenkamm race on the legendary "Streif".
The 3S gondola offers perfect access to great ski tours for passionate amateurs, crossing the areas of Kitzbühel, Jochberg and Kirchberg right up to the Skiarena Resterhöhe in Pass Thurn. Freeriders will find many signed ski routes away from the prepared pistes, designed for all levels of difficulties.
A special highlight in this ski area are the 40 free Wi-Fi hotspots it offers for all its visitors! Only a few easy steps are required to access the Internet and you can instantly supply your friends and family with your holiday news and photos.
The snow park "Mercedes-Benz Snowpark" is a true boarders paradise: with quarter-pipe, tables, slides and jumps on the Hangalm a snowboarder's heart will definitely beat faster.
Families are well catered for in Kirchberg: the great valley runs "Kaser" and "Fleck" offer fun for all level skiers and can easily be reached via the Fleckalm.
Those, looking for some more diversity can upgrade the lift pass to the Super Ski Card (see Ski Region). This is also valid in the ski areas Wilder Kaiser - Brixental, Schneewinkel and Ski Juwel (Alpbachtal - Wildschönau). You can access 22 ski regions in Tyrol and Salzburg, with 2,750 km of pistes, accessible via 916 lifts. Unlimited skiing fun!
After a great day's skiing, it's off to après ski... even if Kirchberg isn't as notorious as its neighbour Kitzbühel, boredom definitely won't be a problem! This is taken care of by numerous discos, bars and pubs. A special tip is the "London Pub", in which there are often live bands that ensure a high-spirited atmosphere. You can dance to your heart's content in eg "Kuhstall". Of course, it also recommended that you party amongst the glitz, glamour and fame of the Kitzbühel après-ski scene! For those looking for a more low-key evening, can choose between typical Tyrolean and international cuisine.
During the day, you have the chance to let loose on the 3.5 km long toboggan run at Gaisberg, take part in a winter hike or practise your pirouettes in the ice-rink. There are the additional possibilities to go Nordic walking or night tobogganing, take a horse-drawn sleigh ride, go paragliding, play indoor tennis, squash and go snowshoe hiking. Or, just treat yourself to a little variety in the popular "Aquarena" in Kitzbühel: enjoy a massage, a moor bath or or just relax in the sauna or pool complex!
Also fans of nordic skiing won't miss out in the region of Kitzbühel! In the area of Kitzbühel, Aurach and Reith there are approx. 60 km of trail, in Kirchberg you can find a further 24 km. The longest trail is the "Sonnenloipe" (the sun trail) Kitzbühel-Aurach-Krichberg with a total length of approx. 20 km and is also recommendable for the less experienced. The city trail "Stadtloipe" takes you over 16 km from Jochberg, via Aurach, right up to Kitzbühel. On the sporty trail "Sportloipe" flood lights enable you to enjoy the fun of cross-country skiing between Kitzbühel, Schwarzsee and Reith into the evening hours.
And the high altitude trails of the area are also high recommendable: the track at the Kitzbüheler Horn at 1,600 m altitude offers not only a 3 km long trail to cover, but also a wonderful Alpine panorama view!
