Kappl - family-friendly resort in the Paznaun Valley!

The charming Tyrolean resort Kappl is located at approx. 1,258 m altitude, between the Verwall Alps in the north and the Samnaun Alps in the south. It comprises approx. 90 small villages and offers a local ski area, a natural toboggan run and various apres ski facilities. As Kappl is only approx. 10 km from the famous ski resort Ischgl, it is the ideal starting point for a day trip to the Silvretta Arena, or for a bit of apres ski in this party hotspot.

If you prefer to spend your time more quietly, you can enjoy Kappl's natural surroundings on various winter hiking trails, or you can indulge in some local specialities in the region guest houses. The little ones will especially enjoy a visit to the Sunny Mountain activity park, which offers everything a child could wish for to learn skiing and experience a diverse and fun winter holiday.

Ski
The local ski area in Kappl offer approx. 36 km of piste, 10 lifts at snow-sure altitudes of 1,180 to 2,690 metres. From the mountain station you can enjoy a magnificent panorama view of the der Samnaun‐, Silvretta‐ and Verwall Alps. The "Latten-"piste is approx. 8 km long and has a 1,469 m difference in altitude, making it the longest piste, and is ideal for carving. The daily prepared racing piste at Alblitt can also be used and shows up the run time once you cross the finish line. There is even a park within the ski area. Children can enjoy themselves in the Sunny Mountain activity park with ski kindergarten and Zibob.

If you like to be the first on freshly prepared pistes in the morning, you can make the most of that with a ski guide who takes you around the Alblitt, Dias and Alblitkopf lifts, from 8 a.m. every Monday morning.

If you would like some diversity on the slopes, you can try out the nearby ski area Silvretta Arena with a total of 239 km of piste, accessible via the neighbouring resort Ischgl.

After a varied day on the piste, Kappl gives you various opportunities to end your day. Located directly at the Kappl valley run, the quaint restaurant "Schafstall" invites you to stay and enjoy the view of the mountain panorama from the sun terrace. If you prefer typical apres ski parties, make sure to make a stop at "Schupfa". The party goes on in the "Grotte" later on.

Lovers of nature can use eventful winter hiking trails starting in the resort centre, and let themselves be spoiled with Tyrolean specialities in one of the local restaurants on the way. You could also try out the 6 km long natural toboggan run, which is flood-lit every Tuesday. The Zibob-Paradise in the Sunny Mountain Amusement Park is a true highlight for tobogganing fans: the whole family can use the 350 m long toboggan run and use the roofed conveyor belt to be transported back to the start. Recently, you are now able to rude the toboggan run with a guide on Fat Bikes every Monday, for an extra special adrenaline kick! (Exact information available in resort).

Fans of apres ski will find paradise in Ischgl, approx. 10 km away. Whether in the legendary "Kuhstall", the "Trofana Alm" or in "Niki's Stadl" - roaring parties take place every day and you're invited to party on until late at night!

Paznaun valley is famous for its excellent variety of piste, but the region surrounding Ischgl and Galtür is also a insider's tip for cross-country skiers. From Kappl you can easily reach Galtür by ski bus and have access to a total of 74 km of cross-country trails. The tracks can be used for free and even have a quality seal. You can look forward to guaranteed snow from the beginning of December through to the spring and the trails offer a lot of diversity thanks to their various levels of difficulty.

The Eastern trail for example, leading round Galtür, is 6.7 km long and the Western trail leads from Galtür the lift's valley station in Wirl on a length of 6.6 km. Also the trail to Ischgl (approx. 6 km long) is perfectly enjoyable: it leads along Trisanna river and only has a soft gradient, passing a difference in altitude of only 110 m. The longest trail is approx. 25.7 km long and connects Galtür with Ischgl, however this one is only recommendable for cross-country skiers with great physical fitness. The round tracks to Jam valley and to the cave in Biel, leading past the Silvretta water reservoir are especially beautiful when it comes to the views - but be careful, you'll need a sporting spirit: the whole track either leads uphill, or, into the other direction, swiftly downhill! The high altitude trail to the Silvretta watter reservoir on an altitude of 2,040 m is another special highlight.

Nordic skiers who don't have enough even after dark are lucky: the 2 km long floodlit night trail between Galtür and Wirl gives guests the opportunity to enjoy the starry sky and perfect trail conditions until 22:00. Both classic skiers or skaters can rise to top form!

The Galtür cross-country trail network is awarded with a seal of quality.
