About Jerzens - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
When in 1964 the first ski lift has been inaugurated on the snow of Hochzeiger mountain, tourism started flourishing in Jerzens. This ski lift has been transformed into the nowadays very popular Hochzeiger skiing area, boasting 9 lift facilities and a total of 40 km of ski slopes. In the home skiing area of the ski star Benni Raich there is even a black slope that bears his name! Moreover the skiing area, which has been awarded with a seal of quality, boasts 70 km of cross-country ski slopes snaking across the entire Pitztal valley as well as a 6 km long toboggan run. This run starts at the mountain station of the Hochzeiger cable car at 2,000 m asl and takes down to the village of Kaitanger. Otherwise you can also ski in the whole-year round skiing area at the Pitztal Glacier.
In summer the Hochzeiger mountain is a popular hiking area, making you enjoy the beauty of the Pitztal mountains. More than 100 km of hiking and Nordic Walking trails make you experience the great outdoors on foot. And after an extended walk you absolutely have to stop at one of the cosy Tyrolean mountain huts and try some cheese and bacon, e.g. on the Jerzner refuge, the Stadlerhütte hut or the Hochzeigerhaus mountain hut. Those who love mountain biking can look forward to a vast network of trails in the Pitztal valley.
Jerzens | The municipality of Jerzens extends in the anterior part of the Pitztal valley on both riverbanks of the Pitze river.
