Hippach - 100% Zillertal!
The holiday resort Hippach is situated in the heart of the Zillertal mountains and is known for it's great hospitality. With the Horberg lift you have ideal access to the diverse ski area with it's wonderful panorama. Mayrhofen is only approx. 5 km away, which optimises the choice of entertainment activities. Besides fantastic fun on the pistes the region Hippach-Schwendau-Ramsau also offers e.g. 30 km of piste cross-country trails with access to the neighbouring resorts, winter hiking trails and horse-drawn sleigh rides through the snowy winter landscape. At the Gerolsstein lift in the nearby centre of Zell am Ziller there is also the longest natural and flood-lit toboggan run of the Zillertal to be found. The 7 km long descent offers cosy turn-in points and provides real toboggan fun! A special plus-point is the really good service-price ratio of this holiday resort!
SkiWith the "Zillertaler Superskipass" you can choose from 489 kilometres of piste in Hochfügen, at the Spieljoch, in Hochzillertal, in the Zillertal Arena (Zell, Gerlos, Königsleiten, Wald, Krimml and Gerlosstein), at Penken, and Ahorn, at the Horberg and in the Ski- und Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000 (Mayrhofen, Finkenberg, Eggalm, Rastkogl, Hintertux glacier). The ski areas are all excellently linked to one another by a free train and bus shuttle (see ski region). Since the 2013/14 winter season, the Zillertal Arena offers free-of-charge wifi in all of its ski areas! In other words, not only can you enjoy the white bliss and the sun, but also share your latest experiences and highlights directly with your loved ones at home.
The Horberg lift in Hippach brings you directly into the Ziller Valley 3000 ski region, which is also shared with Mayrhofen and consists of 135 kilometres of piste around Penken and Horberg, and is excellently connected with the areas at Rastkogel and Eggalm. The Ziller Valley ski area in Zell is easily reached with the free ski bus.
Wide carving slopes, challenging pistes, mogul slopes, enjoyable family runs, perfect fun-parks and pipes - every wish will be fulfilled! The Harakiri on the Penken is one of the steepest and most spectacular pistes in Austria, with its 78% gradient decline- a real rarity only to be dared by very experienced skiers. There is nothing more perfect than exploring the ski mountains around Hippach with circular cable cars: Experts can choose the High-Altitude-Eater round, which covers 13,000 m altitude in total. Or you can take the Fun + Action round, which does not go to the Harakiri, but rather to the beloved Vans Penken Park and the ski area's race tracks. For leisurely and family skiers, the Beginner round at Penken and the Family round at Ahorn are recommended. The Genießerberg offers-apart from the demanding downhill runs- wide, sunny pistes, which are the perfect terrain for leisure carvers, beginners, and families. However, there are free ride possibilities on the Wanglspitz and on the Unterbergalm.
For a special treat, we recommend a day trip to the Hintertux Glacier, which due to its size and challenging pistes is one of the best skiing glaciers in the Alps. At 1,500 - 3,250 m altitude the only summer ski area in Austria offers 59 km of prepared pistes, 20 modern lift systems and, as a special highlight, a 12 km long valley descent.
The Zillertal is famous far beyond its borders for the lively après ski. Numerous huts and snow bars invite you to flirt and party. In the snack stations, mountain pubs and savage huts sociability is high on the priority list. The "White Lounge" in the ski area - an igloo hotel with bar and chill out area - is a special highlight. After the skiing day has ended, best take a visit to the "Yeti-Bar" at the Horberg lift, or pop by the "Ramba Zamba" or the "Hiatamadl" for après ski. After that you either can continue to the local "Disco Treff" in resort or turn night into day in neighbouring Mayrhofen's bars and discos. There you can find most night owls in the popular "Schlüsselalm", "Harakiri bar" or at "Brückenstadl"
Special fun and action can be found on the toboggan run at the nearby Hainzenberg, which is easily accessed via the Gerlosstin lift. The 7 km long descent us the longest illuminated, natural toboggan track in the Zillertal and promises a really adventurous downhill ride! You also won't be bored once you're off your skis: hikers will love a tour on the panorama round at Ahorn. In Mayrhofen you'll also find an indoor pool with sauna area, a boulder hall and an ice rink.
Every resort in the Zillertal has its own cross-country runs. Altogether there is now a network of approx. 200 km. Around Mayrhofen and Hippach you can find 30 km of well-tracked tours, some of which are in skating style. The longest run (10 km) leads from Mayrhofen to Hollenzen. A 25 km long local tour leads from Zell am Ziller to Mayrhofen. For further variations on your trips you can use the tracks in Gerlos. Here you will also find the 7 km high-altitude cross-country run which is very snow-sure.
There are also 4 new tracks in Burgstall. You can decide if you'd rather try the racing trail, the pro's run or just enjoy easy skating in a wonderful winter landscape. 3 of those trails are also lit until 22:00 p.m. and you can therefore remain sporty into the late evening hours. And for those who just can't get enough, why not try the 200 km Pinzgau-Run?
