Summer resort
Gosau is one of the smaller Austrian lakeside resorts and attracts those seeking a totally unspoilt atmosphere. The lovely village offers you many activities, as well as picturesque countryside. 100 km of mountain bike trails and 120 km of well marked hiking paths will show you the beautiful scenery of the surrouning Dachstein mountain range. You may wish to try a ride in a hot air balloon, or make use of the bathing lake, tennis courts, fishing pond, fitness centre, or paragliding facilities.
Winter resort
Gosau, where you can even ski in spring, is the main ski resort of the Dachstein-West region (770 m - 1700 m). It offers 65 km of pisted runs, a well-linked lift system (2 cable cars and 35 lifts) and 45 km of cross-country skiing trails. Winter guests will also appreciate the funpark, toboggan runs and winter paths, as well as the indoor swimming baths with solariums and a sauna, or perhaps the three indoor tennis courts.
There is something for everybody in Gosau:
For the romantics - horse-drawn sleigh rides; particularly enjoyable is the torch-lit toboggan ride; for those who want to relax, there's the indoor swimming baths; for nature lovers - snow-shoe walks on untrodden, deeply snow-covered footpaths far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life; for your fitness - 50 km of cross-country ski runs; for your comfort - cabin evenings and numerous rustic huts and guesthouses.
Whether on your skies in the fairytale-like winter forest, while hurtling down the toboggan run, cross-country skiing or simply walking through snow-covered meadows - here you will find your peace once more.
