Filzmoos - the epitome of cosiness!
Filzmoos is n the heart of the Salzburger Land, right in the centre of the largest ski area in Austria. Surrounded by fairy-tale winter landscapes, you'll have an incredible view of the trademark of Filzmoos, the Bischofsmütze. The highest and most spectacular mountain in Gosaukamm is particularly popular amongst climbers. The resort has a great infrastructure and offers a diverse leisure programme in addition to the pistes: whether curling, snow-tubing, snow-bike riding, or tobogganing, there's something for everyone. Especially families value the quiet resort with it's manageable ski area, where you will seldom find queues at the lifts.
SkiWith the lift pass “Ski amadé” you have access to an unbelievable 760 km of piste, as well as 270 lifts in Austria’s largest ski area (see ski region)! The Salzburger Sportwelt is located in the centre of “Ski Amadé” and meets all the requirements for a great skiing holiday! In the Salzburger Sportwelt alone, there are 350 km of piste and 94 lift systems at altitudes between 650 and 2,200 m available.
The sprawling ski links Kleinarl/Flachauwinkl/Zauchensee and Flachau/Wagrain/St. Johann are the top destinations in the network and owe their notoriety to such events as the Alpine Ski World Cup in Flachau. Families, beginners and cross-country skiers will find suitable areas, whereas the pros will be drawn to Zauchensee. Diverse fun parks await boarders, e.g. the Absolut Park in Flachauwinkl, which offers everything a boarder's heart desires: rail combos, half-pipe, jib park, the "chill house" and numerous events. First-class deep snow territory can be found on Monte Popolo or around the Zauchensee. With its opportunities, the Salzburger Sportwelt sets winter sports standards.
In the family-friendly ski area of Filzmoos, winter sport fans will find 12 km of piste as well as 8 lifts. On the wide pistes, beginners have plenty of room for their first turns. The three ski schools in the resort are easily reachable due to their location directly in the centre.
If it is apres ski you are looking for in Filzmoos, then you are looking in the right place. There is something to be found here for everyone.: in the Kalahari Bar you can enjoy cocktails, in Kenn'i Di it is cosy and relaxed and in the Happy Alm you will find activity apres ski. Further there are many huts and restaurants and bars to choose from.
A visit worthwhile for the whole family and after a long day on the piste is the "Freizeitpark Filzmoos" with sauna, spa and swimming pool, right up to skittles alley and outdoor climbing wall! Of course there are also enough possibilities to spend the evening outdoors in the fresh air. Ski tours, horse-drawn sleigh rides or hot air balloon rides can be booked locally. Further there are approx. 50 km of winter hiking trails, incl. high altitude hikes at 1,600 m, an ice rink and various toboggan runs in the entire area. On the natural toboggan run at Kleinberg in Filzmoos you can even ride until under floodlights until late in the evening.
The Salzburger Sports World is an ideal holiday destination for cross-country skiers. About 226 kilometres of, mainly demanding, trail can be used free of charge like the 40 km in Filzmoos, 52 km in Altenmarkt, 40 km in Flachau and 20 km around Wagrain. As most of the tracks are connected with each other an access is quite easy. The 10 km high run near Zauchsee is known to be sure of snow. The 8 km Olympic run from Altenmarkt to Radstadt is a challenged even to the more advanced skiers. Every January visitors can enjoy the highlight “Tauernmarathon” on the 50 km long Tauernrun.
