Fieberbrunn
The idyllic town of Fieberbrunn (790 m) lies in the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps. As the largest resort in Pillerseetal, there are free buses available daily to take you to all surrounding villages. Due to the connection with the neighbouring Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang, as well as the ski areas of Zell am See/Kaprun, Fieberbrunn has been promoted to the "Champions League of Winter Sports in the Alpine Region". After a long day on the piste, you can stop in at one of the apres ski bars or restaurants. Off-piste, the holidaymaker has a broad spectrum of recreational activities, from paragliding right to a whole sauna village.
SkiUntil now, the Fieberbrunn ski area was known as the "best hidden ski area in the Alps" and was an insider tip, especially for freeriders, deep snow lovers and snowboarders. This has now changed. From the 2019/2020 season, you can ski with the newly introduced Ski Alpin Card, the merger of the Saalbach Hinterglemm Fieberbrunn ski circus with the ski areas of Zell am See/Kaprun, on a total of 408 kilometres of pistes with 121 lifts and just one ski pass!
The Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn and the ski area Zell am See - Kaprun plan to merge until 2023. From the winter season 2019/20 the zellamseeXpress will transport snowboarders and skiers from Glemmtal to Zell am See, Kaprun. For the time being you can take the ski bus from Vorderglemm back to the Skicircus. However, this will change in the next 4 years with the ski area connection and makes the merger the largest contiguous ski area in Austria.
But even if the large Skicircus is now close by, the experts in the Fieberbrunn ski area will not be bored. Directly next to the Reckmoosbahn, for example, dreamlike deep snow areas await adventurers and the illuminated halfpipe "Lord of the Boards" offers snowboarders an experience in a class of its own. The black mogul slope at Reckmoos is particularly challenging.
If you would like to get to know other ski areas in addition to the new lift network, we recommend upgrading to the Super Ski Card (see ski region). This also applies, for example, to the ski areas Wilder Kaiser - Brixental, Schneewinkel and Ski Juwel (Alpbachtal and Wildschönau). With a lift pass you can experience unlimited skiing pleasure in 22 ski regions in Tyrol and Salzburg on 2,750 km of slopes!
Fieberbrunn not only offers enjoyment on the slopes, but also off-piste fun. Well-known are the "Enzianhütte" at the Doischberg and the "Biwak", which lie directly next to the valley station. The disco "Tanzbar Tenne" invites you in to get your groove on and get partying. However, Fieberbrunn also has numerous restaurants and bars.
There is a whole lot of recreational activities available besides après ski. So after an active day on the pistes you can relax in the pool complex with it's own sauna village to regain strength for the upcoming ski day. Furthermore 35 km of hiking tracks, guided snowshoe hikes or cosy horse-drawn sledge rides through the winter landscape await the holidaymakers. For those who cannot get enough there is still lots of activity to be found in the Pillerseetal. You can choose between 4 toboggan runs, for instance. The 2.5 m long run at Fieberbrunn is illuminated in the evenings and in St. Ulrich (in close proximity) there is an ice arena.
Even the climbing park is open in winter and offers a snowy forest with flood-lit tree tips and provides a special experience. In Fieberbrunn you will hardly find any limits!
For cross-country ski fans the Pillerseetal is no insiders tip any more. In the cross-country stronghold the skiers will find trails designed for world champions. Every year, the close-by village of Hochfilzen hosts the biathlon World Cup, in 2017 even the world championship was held there. Numerous tracks lead through the wonderful valley of Pillersee and around the eponymous lake. Routes with a total length of 100 km await you here. Besides the classic style you will also find extra trails prepared for skating style in all resorts and for you assistance you will also find tutors and service stations available.
In Fieberbrunn cross-country skiers have the choice of 3 different tracks, between 2 and 10 km length. In total the area offers approx. 22 km of trails. The "Dandlerloipe" is the longest in the region and leads along 10.4 sporty kilometres from Fieberbrunn to Hochfilzen. At Waidring there is even a racing-skating track at high-level difficulty and only suitable for skaters. A highlight for every cross-country skier surely is the weekly guest biathlon on the "Dorfloipe" in Hochfilzen.
The Pillerseetal cross-country trail network is awarded with a seal of quality.
