About Feichten Im Kaunertal - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
Feichten - wonderful mountain backdrop and glacier fun!
The district Kauner Valley stretches along the entire narrow and sparse set-back part of the valley passing by tiny villages and farms. The main resort is Feichten at 1,275 m. Enjoy the flair of the Kauner Valley surrounded by the impressive mountain backdrop and the nearby glacier ski area. The Erspenhang village lift is ideally suited for first-time skiers. The numerous guest houses and restaurants also look forward to offer you their Tyrolean specialities and self-distilled Schapserl. Leisure time activities include, of course besides skiing and snowboarding, ice skating, curling and tobogganing.
SkiWith the lift pass "Kaunertaler Gletscher - Fendels" you can choose from 32,5 km of piste in two different ski areas. In total there 16 lifts which take you comfortably up the mountain. You can either stay in the family-friendly resort Fendels with 11 km of piste or you can choose the area at the Kaunertal glacier with 22 km of piste and lots of free ride possibilities.
In Fendels there are many easy to intermediate pistes mostly for beginners. Children can let loose in the Bibiland. An especially nice piste is the valley run, past some wonderful larch woods. Experienced skiers can take the Planggerlift to some of the more challenging pistes. Once per week you can extend your skiing fun into the evening hours.
At the Kaunertal glacier you can enjoy winter sports at 2,150 to 3,108 m altitude. With the post bus you can even ascend to 2,750 m altitude, due to the highest post bus stop in Austria. The glacier ski area offers mainly wide and softly descending pistes. However, it also attracts free stylers due to the snow park at 2,990 m, and free riders who will find approx. 30 km of varying runs here. Here - just like in the "Weisssee" mountain restaurant - free Wi-Fi is available.
In Feichten everyone meets up at the KIWI (Kirchenwirt). Especially snowboarders and young people are to be found here. On the parking lot of the Fendels mountain lift there is the umbrella bar Fendels offering good music and lots of fun. Numerous guest houses and restaurant offer more tranquillity and also some Tyrolean specialities.
The programme is rounded off by going night tobogganing or night skiing (Thursdays in the ski area Fendels), ice skating or curling. The 4.5 long nature toboggan of the the lifts of Fendels, which even received the Tyrolean seal of approval is recommendable. The 2 km long toboggan run also offers night tobogganing with a hot mulled wine party once a week. Those who prefer it quieter will find approx. 20 km of winter hiking trails through the romantic winter landscape on offer. If you rather are looking for some action you can try yourself on the frozen waterfalls. In winter there are various possibilities for ice climbing to be found there.
Winter landscapes covered in deep snow and glistening in the sun: The cross-country network covers a total of approx. 30 km and stretches across the entire Kauner Valley. The Feichten - Platz Valley trail takes you through a lovely winter landscape. The 6 km long Hubertus high altitude cross-country ski trail at the Gachenblick is highly recommendable for experts, reaching from 1,500 m up to 1,660 m altitude.
The cross-country trails in Kaunertal have received the great cross-country trail seal of excellence.
