Erl - fun in the snow for everyone!
The idyllic resort Erl is only a few kilometres from the German boarder and is situated at an altitude of approx. 470 m. Surrounded by the Kaiser mountains, the famous passion play resort invites its guests to ski, hike and sledge. The resort at the boarder offers many possibilties to enjoy winter sports. no matter if you choose the Bavarian Alps or the largest interconnected ski area in Austria - the Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser/Brixental - there are no limits to skiing fun here! Alternatively you can also enjoy the lovely winter landscape on a horse-drawn sleigh ride and at the same time recharge you energy reserves for your everyday life.
SkiFor skiers and all other fans of winter sports, the ski area "Oberaudorf/Hocheck" with its 12 km of piste offers more than only a mountain with pistes. The diverse offer attracts increasingly more winter sports fans of all ages to Oberaudorf. All important pistes can be covered with snow by snow-making devices of the newest technology. Besides families, also snowboarders with find an ideal area with fun park to run riot. The main run is additionally flood-lit, so this makes the piste to the longest flood-lit piste in Germany. 4 times a week the piste can therefore be used after dark. And for the little beginners there is a perfect practise area with magic carpets, tow lift and child-care facilities available.
When the day in Erl comes to an end, the are numerous possibilities to spend the evening in diversity. Besides a visit to one of the cosy restaurants or a fun round on the skittles alley, you can also take a trip to the closeby resort Oberaudorf to try the toboggan run at night. The 3 km long slope is mostly open until 21:00, so you can enjoy a speedy descent! The classical apres ski is also to be found in Oberaudorf. At the valley station, for instance, there is the apres ski bar "AlmRausch", where you can experience sheer fun and party.
The small but decent ski area also offers various possibilities for cross-country skiers. All round the village you will find 37.5 km of tracks, of which the high-altitude track - the Mühlau trail - at 700 - 780 m altitude is well suited for the more experienced skiers. Beginners will find the Audorf round trail with its 3.3 km length very adequate.
