About Ehrwald - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
Ehrwald - Does credit to its name!
The traditional Tyrolean resort of Ehrwald is located in a sunny valley at 994 m altitude and is framed by the imposing Zugspitze, Mieminger and the Wetterstein mountain ranges. Pistes of varying difficulty levels await you in Ehrwald. Experienced skiers and snowboarders and beginners all get their money’s worth here! In the Ehrwald Alm there is great scope for children to learn to ski in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. In addition to the unlimited skiing-fun, you can also descend to the Ehrwald Alm valley with a night-time toboggan ride, ski bob or Snowfox ride.
SkiThe Ehrwald Alm ski area has 7 lifts and a total of approx. 27.5 km of piste available. With the “Top Snow Card” you have access to a further 10 ski areas with a total of 214 km of piste and 87 lifts, including Garmisch-Partenkirchen on the German side and Lermoos, Berwang and Mittenwald in Austria (see ski region).
With its highly situated sun terraces, excellent prepared pistes and guaranteed snow, Ehrwald meets all winter-sports fans’ requirements! For this reason the Ehrwald Alm ski area once again received the Tyrolean Slope Quality Label.
Ehrwald can also impress with its lift system: apart from the 8-person gondola which easily takes you up to Ehrwalder Alm, the ski area has 3 highly modern 6-person chairlifts with weather covers and seat heating.
The neighbouring ski area, the Ehrwalder Wettersteinbahnen, which lies at the foot of the Zugspitze, also has plenty to offer like the Ehrwald Alm. The Wetterstein mountains offer 23 km of fun on the piste in all levels of difficulty, also offering 2 chair lifts and tow lifts. The ski area is also special to children thanks to its practice slope and "Kinderland", which is ideal for learning.
Après-ski in Ehrwald is rather quiet and usually found in one of the quaint, welcoming huts. A popular spot is the Schirmbar, which is located directly in the centre of Ehrwald and provides cheery fun. But immediately in the Valley Station you can also happily round off a days’ skiing in, for example, the Ganghoferhütte, where live music is played on certain days.
Ehrwald has many further offers for you to take advantage of after a day on the slopes. For instance, a relaxing trip to the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena family pool, an exciting toboggan evening with the whole family or an extensive snowshoe hike – the choice is yours!
Ehrwald has a approx. 34 km of cross-country trails available, of varying levels of difficulty. From the more demanding Ganghofer-Hochloipe trail at 1,500 m altitude, you can enjoy approx. 7 km of trails with stunning views.
The entire Zugspitz Arena region has more than 110 km of cross-country trails available and connects almost all the resorts in the region. The tracks can be used in classic and skating style and offers many opportunities for both very active and more tranquil skiers. Various night-trails enable Nordic skiing into the late evening hours. You are therefore sure to find the right route for you!
