Breitenbach - holiday in the heart of Tyrol!
Only a few kilometres from the German-Austrian border is Breitenbach, nestled between the Inn Valley's soft hilly landscape, the steeply rising mountain peaks in Alpbachtal and the impressive panorama of the Kitzbühel Alps. Customs and tradition are looked after here, which earnt the village the "Europagemeinde" (Europe community) accolade. Restaurants and "Stuben" parlours spoil with Tyrolean delicacies. The winter hiking paths around Breitenbach invite you to explore the wonderful snowy landscape. Two cross-country tracks are available - one of which even has a seal of approval, and the ski areas Alpbachtal, Reith and Kramsach are quite close by.
SkiThanks to the connection of the ski areas Wildschönau and Alpachtal since the season 12/13 via a new gondola you can access an amazing 145 km of pistes with the new lift pass "Ski Juwel". The ski areas Markbachjoch/Lanerköpfl, Oberau, Schatzberg as well as Kramsach, Reither Kogel and Wiedersberger Horn are part of the connection. The ski are is surrounded by 46 lifts between an altitude of 600 and 2.025 m. Diverse runs with all kinds of difficulty levels ensure that everyone from beginners to cracks get their money's worth.
Children will feel great in Bobo's children's club! The Schatzberg and the Reither Kogel are perfect for families and connoisseurs, ambitious skiers in comparison will love the runs on the Northern side of the Markbachjoch and Lanerköpfl as well as the diverse deep powder snow and freeride areas with 17 km signed ski routes.
Also those who love to ski under the ski light will have the opportunity to do so on both of the floodlight pistes in Oberau. The various piste offers can be comfortably reached with the free ski bus. For snowboarder freaks the snow park at the Wiedersberger Horn, the Fun park at the Schatzberg and the Race 'n' Boarder arena in Niederau ensure loads of fun and action.
Additionally there are 20 "hot zones" available from where you can access the Internet via a free wifi connection. Therefore you can easily upload your photos and send greetings to all your friends and family!
Après ski in the Alpbachtal begins with the comfortable retreat into the rustic mountain huts. Here you can start by taking it easy with a hearty meal. After that the proper fun starts, with socialising! Après ski fans should definitely visit the "Gondlalm" in Alpbach: the complete interior equipment consists of gondolas! The Panorama-Skibar at the Pögel lift Inneralpbach valley station is a popular destination for partying guests.
If that's too much for you, there are numerous restaurants where you can be spoilt, as well as torch-lit hikes and night tobogganing to take part in. Snowshoe hikes, guided winter hikes, horse-drawn sleigh rides and Bavarian curling are also offered.
Breitenbach and the surrounding area offer a very diverse cross-country trail selection, which is connected to Angerberg-Mariastein and offers 35 km of prepared trails. Breitenbach itself has two cross-country trails set in a wonderful winter panorama available for use - one of which even has a seal of approval. In January and February the local tourism association even organises guided cross-country tours for beginners and experts.
In Angerberg, a lighted night track offers fun into the evening hours. Nearby Kramsach and Reith offer an additional 19 kilometres of trail. Alpbach also has over 21 km of well-prepared trails, from a medium to high level of difficulty. In the entire Alpbach valley there are approx. 100 km of prepared tracks available.
