The tranquil and relaxed area of Bezau is located in Bregenzerwald. The white and green tones of the snow covered forest blend together with the wooden farmhouses for as far as the eye can see. There is no place better to experience its originality than in the local museum. The parish church of St. Jodok is just as much worth a visit. Alongside these idyllic spots you will find a wide range of leisure activities for young and old alike. With snowshoe hikes, cross-country skiing or tobogganing, there's something fun for everyone. And for adrenaline junkies a holiday in Bregenzerwald is definitely worthwhile... in Andelsbuch there is the highest climbing tower in Austria.
SkiIn the Niedere ski area (655 m - 1,715 m), skiers and snowboarders have access to 10 km of piste as well as 10 km of ski routes. 8 lifts transport guests throughout the family-friendly ski area. You can even make your way down into the valley via the ski routes, although a prepared run also makes its way to Andelsbuch. There, little guests will find a children's lift with a magic carpet.
With the "3-Täler" lift pass, you can enjoy over 506 km of piste throughout a total of 38 ski areas (see ski region).
After a successful day on the slopes, numerous restaurants, bars and cafés entice you in and wait to spoil you with local cuisine. The 1.5 km long natural tobogganing run in Gschwend (which will be lit daily until 23:00) will certainly bring you are whole lot of fun early on in the evening. You are able to rent toboggans directly in resort. Additionally you have the opportunity of going ice skating in Schoppernau, playing tennis, paragliding or winter hiking. There are numerous hiking trails of various difficulties to choose from, which lead you through a winter wonderland. For instance, the easy and sunny “Sonderdacher Rundwanderweg” route is a great starting point.
Bregenzerwald is a real paradise for fans of Nordic skiing, with more than 300 km of cross-country trails. There are two particulary good trails directly in Bezau. The trail at Oberdorf is an easy to medium level circuit of 2.2 km. The easy version at Ellenbogen is 3.4 km long and suitable for beginners. Furthermore, you will find several tracks of varying difficulty in the surrounding locations. For instance there is the approx. 15.2 km long circuit trail that connects Bezau, Bizau and Reuthe - it is very diverse and leads through a beautiful landscape.
