The traditional Landhotel Post is located in the heart of the Salzkammergut, right on the southern shore of Lake Traunsee, in the picturesque Ebensee am Traunsee. The family-run hotel is known for its excellent cuisine. The menu ranges from traditional home cooking to dishes made from natural ingredients to hearty dishes, as well as regional and international specialties. Program:
Day 1:
Individual arrival in Ebensee on Lake Traunsee.
You will receive your travel documents at the hotel.
Day 2:
Feuerkogel - snowshoe hiking on the high plateau.
Take the winter shuttle to the Feuerkogel valley station. From there, the Feuerkogel cable car will take you up the mountain. A total of 5 snowshoe trails and a "taster trail" are available for snowshoe hikers on the Feuerkogel high plateau, with a total length of around 25 kilometers. After the snowshoe tour, enjoy a soup and a Kaiserschmarrn in one of the mountain inns or huts on the Feuerkogel (depending on opening times and days off). Once you've had enough, take the cable car back down to the valley and the shuttle back to the hotel.
Day 3:
Bad Ischl - hike around the Jainzen and Salzkammergut Therme: approx. 7 km, elevation gain/loss: 260 m
Travel by train to Bad Ischl. You can store your bathing luggage at the Salzkammergut Touristik.
Start with a circular hike around the local mountain of the Ischlers, the "Jainzen". From the train station, walk through the center and turn left into the Rechensteg. You will soon reach Jainzendorfstraße with a beautiful view of the Ischl valley. Here you can shorten the circular route by about 30 minutes if you follow the asphalt road. However, it is recommended to visit the Glücksplatz near the Hohenzoller waterfall. Now you go through a lonely valley with meadows and forest and finally along the original Jainzenbach back to Bad Ischl.
Take a break from the sporting activities in the afternoon and visit the Salzkammergut Therme Bad Ischl. Return by train.
Day 4:
Llama hiking with lunch in the Kreh and free time.
Trip with the Traunstein Taxi from the Hotel Post to the Gasthof Kreh. The llama hike begins there. You hike with the llamas to the Langbathsee (approx. 2 hours). Then return to the Gasthof Kreh. The Gasthof in the Kreh is a traditional business where a stop is planned for lunch (voucher - lunch can be chosen freely from the menu). Return with the Traunstein Taxi. The afternoon is free.
Day 5:
Bad Goisern - Hiking on the Traunreiterweg, Hand.Werk.Haus, gourmet highlight
Arrival and departure by train to Bad Goisern.
If you want to hike as close to the water as possible, the Traunreiterweg in Bad Goisern on Lake Hallstatt is recommended. The wide hiking and walking path runs directly next to the riverbed and is around 4 kilometers long from the center of Goisern to the northern border of Bad Goisern. After the hike, you can visit the Hand.Werk.Haus - a center for contemporary handicraft culture. Afterwards, you can fortify yourself in the traditional Maislinger coffee house with coffee specialties, homemade pastries, as well as warm dishes and small snacks (voucher). If you still feel like a little adventure, we recommend a toboggan ride on the Trockentann toboggan run.
Day 6:
Gmunden with Gmundner Keramik and hike up the Gmundnerberg: approx. 9.5 km, altitude difference in ascent/descent: 390 m
Travel to Gmunden by train.
The Gmundner Keramik Manufaktur offers an exciting program all year round. After the independent tour of Gmunden and the factory tour of the Gmundner Keramik, you continue by bus to Altmünster. A beautiful circular path leads from the Altmünster Esplanade via the Urzn mountain inn with a fantastic view of the Traunstein and the surrounding mountains. Depending on the snow conditions, there is also a beautiful snowshoe hike up the Gmundnerberg. Hike back and once you arrive in the center of Altmünster, take the bus or train back to Ebensee.
Day 7:
UNESCO World Heritage Site Hallstatt with salt mines and east bank hiking trail approx. 8 km, ascent/descent: 35 m
Travel by train from Ebensee to Steeg-Gosau.
This is where your hike begins on the east bank hiking trail along Lake Hallstatt. The easy adventure hike offers beautiful views and also some special highlights. You reach the Hallstatt train station - from there you take the ferry to the center of the World Heritage site of Hallstatt. After the tour of the historic town, you will visit the Hallstatt Salt Mines, the oldest mine in the world, including a ride up on the salt mine railway, a guided tour of the mine, a skywalk and a ride down on the train.
ALTERNATIVE (if the salt mines are closed from January 7th to January 31st): Dachstein Krippenstein Panorama Ticket from 1:00 p.m. With the Panorama Ticket, winter hikers (snowshoes and/or winter boots) can take the Dachstein Krippenstein cable cars (sections 1-3) to the mountain peak and enjoy the enchanting winter landscape.
From Hallstatt, return ferry and train from Hallstatt to Ebensee (alternatively, taxi back to Obertraun and from Obertraun train station back to Ebensee).
Day 8:
Individual departure.
