It was in 1860 that the philatelist and inventor of the postcard, Dr. Emanuel Herrmann, built Schloss Seefels on the banks of Lake Wörthersee. In 1966 the previous owners converted the palace into a luxury hotel where luxury holiday is combined with hospitality on highest level. Since 1970 the hotel is part of the "Relais & Châteaux Hotels".
