General information
Waidhofen, at an altitude of 510 m, has 5770 inhabitants and is situated by a river. The town's own special charm is down to its truly varied history. Since 1171, it has always been influenced by its - sometimes hostile, sometimes peaceful - direct neighbourhood to what was then Bohemia. And that had an influence on the architecture, too. Fortresses from the Middle Ages are sitll recognisable today. But the real emblems of Waidhofen are the two towers of the church and town hall, which have defined the town's sillhouette for centuries.

Summer resort
Found in the heart of the Waldviertel region, Waidofen is a picturesque town set amongst wonderful varied scenery. It offers many activities and leisure facilities including cycling, hiking, golf, a riding stable and an outdoor pool. In the surrounding area you will find many inviting bathing lakes.
Winter resort
Waidhofen is also an attractive holiday destination in winter. The winter sport area (510 - 600 m) offers 8 km of pisted runs and is an ideal choice for beginners. Furthermore you will find 15 km of cross-country skiing runs, winter paths, an ice-rink and a curling alley.
